Interesting Fly

Post by gatordave »

I was camping at Cayo Costa this weekend and this thing flew past me and landed. I took a few shots with my waterproof Pentax and when I got home this is what I captured. I had no idea what it was. I thought it was some kind of meat eating bee. so I started to look up bees of Florida and found nothing. Then I seen a pic that looked like it and found out that it is actually a bee eating fly. It's apprpriatly named a Bee Killer Fly. Here is a link to it. I hope you find this as interesting as I did.. http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/mis ... illers.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have to say I am impressed. My whole life I have been into animals and insects and have watched more animal shows than I can remember but this one is new to me. Damn nice pic too!
