I just got her a Nikon Coolpics P80, a 10 mp point and shoot, but a little different than your everyday model. This one has some of the features of our SLR, ie S,A,P,M modes, it also has an 18x OPTICAL zoom and VR. I played around with it a little yesterday, and am very impressed. The only drawback I have found is that even in the auto mode, the pop up flash must be released manually.
All in all, a nice camera for under $300.
The main reason for buying it was to be able to take pics in the places like the St Pete Times, where some arcane rule prohibits cameras with removable lenses
. We found that out at the Lightning/Nashville game. I will try to post some pics this weekend from Thurs nights game with Boston.
