Tiger Eye Graduation Present

Post by dunfly »

My nephew just graduated from the University of Virginia, so I decided to build him a rod for small mountain streams and spring creeks. It is a Tiger Eye 7'6" 3/4wt fly rod. The grip is Fenwick style, which I seem to be using on all of my lower weight rods. Wraps are candy apple red with gold trim. Due to the design of the grip and reel seat, I had to also wrap the reel seat hood.

That's amazing!
Our tradition is that of the first man who snuck away to the creek when the tribe did not really need fish.

I thought about using the University of Virginia colors, but orange and blue would look sort of ugly on a fly rod.
