Kingfish

Post by Walt »

We launched from the beach (Manatee County) this morning in pursuit of a possible Kingfish. The water was 74 degrees, water was relatively clear, and light surf. We paddled out to the crab traps, and attempted to sabiki some bait. We had almost no luck with the sabiki, and after many attempts, I was able to catch a small Blue Runner that I was able to use for bait. I paddled up and down the beach for 2 hours chasing what few signs of activity there was, and went home empty handed. I'm thinking that I might try it again next weekend. There just wasn't enough bait in close to the beach to make it happen today.

Cheers!
