Finally got back out...

Post by dbaker2332 »

Well, I was finally able to get the Slayer out of the garage since the Kayak for Coop event and decided to do some night kayak fishing. Arik and I intended to launch at the ramp behind the Casey Key library, but, as luck would have it, the north bridge was out of commission.

We shifted to the Nokomis Boat Ramp. After braving the drunken onslaught of the fine locals, we slid north and fished the mainland side docks. Arik pulled in more than a few high teens, possibly a twenty-something, snook on the Flat Rap. I was sold and switched over from the DOA Shrimp after only landing a 13" mangrove snapper. First cast was a 19.5" snook. It died down then we moved on...and I'm glad we did.

Well, as a result of OUR hard work (I assure you I didn't understand how much work would be involved on both of our parts), and an extremely frayed leader, I was able to land a 38 inch (best guess as it was off the board) and about a 30-35lb prize.

Today, we are going to Buttonwood and we are going to attempt to brave the mild winds.

Like those big girls, don't you?

I like the OUR part. Those big snook are very difficult to catch by yourself in a tight environment. They always seem to find something to wrap your line around.

Love to see quality fish coming out of my neck of the woods. Well done.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.
