Ya know with all the time I have spent outdoors here in Fl the last 23 years I have yet to see a water moccasin. I used to see a lot in Va when I was in the Navy but not one here. Love me some snake porn! Thanks.

I was wade fishing for bass along the edge of the cat tails in Lake Parish. Standing still and slowly working a rubber worm when I felt something bumping me on the stomach. I didn't pay any attention to it at first because I thought it was the bass I had I had tied on the stringer.
Finally I looked down to see a big old water moccasin striking the end of the rope that I had tied around my waist.
Needless to say their was some high stepping going on getting back to the boat.

Stepped up close to one on a canal shore line in Miami. Good sized and ornery bastard.

I retreated respectfully and did the remainder of my fishing in the bar

Poisonous snakes are actually kind of rare, most people see a water snake and immediately it is a water moccasin, there are probably 10 different varieties of water snakes and only one is poisonous. They do give a nasty bite though. That one is the real deal.
