Escaped that freaking roon. but not til about 7:30, last one out of the parking lot, laoded and headed to 3 or 4 launch sites looking for Eastern shoreline shelter, wind was howling or spots were loaded already with kayakers, about 8:30 said screw it, cut my losses, dropped off the keys in the drop box at R-Palms and bailed and headed South bound for home.

Hope the weather turned around and the rest of you's had a great day .

What was the results, who won what with what.. ???

May or may not do this one next year.

Sandy, sorry dude, but that was funny.

1st Place - Hobie Pro Angler - Bob something with 60 some inches.

2nd Place - Hummingbird Fish Finder - Our own Chuck Statham (Is that right Chuck?) 47.5"

3rd Place - Ocean Kayak - Jeff Harrel 47"

Kind of confused, but congrats to the Tampa crew.

My friend Chip Gibson drove all the way down from Atlanta and won the other kayak in the raffle.

Fishing's a little different over there, can't say I have it figured out after one trip.

Scouted & fished a couple of different areas, caught some snook & trout, but none of the gonzo fish I'd heard about.

The weather was ever-threatening, but other than the first couple of hours on Saturday morning, it turned out to be a non-issue.

River Palms is a cool place & I saw enough 20-30 lb snook that I'm already anticipating a return trip!

Sandy, I couldn't help but laugh after reading about your misfortune.....sorry man.
Heywood,
I met Chip just before the captains meeting, nice guy. Your report from last year shortened the learning curve for me. Thanks!
I arrived Friday afternoon to some wind and some lightning storms with wind and rain Saturday morning.
It laid down around 8:30am. I got a slam but the red 16" and snook 18.2" did not qualify. I did find some big
trout. Smallest was 24" with my new PB at 28.7".

Looking back yes it was frustrating but kind of funny.. also an expensive adventure for a financially handicapped old fugger.. $270 for the 2 day minimum stay at R-Plams..

If I play next year I'll go back to the double drive.. drive up/back for the captains meeting, and round trip it agian Saturday. Those mandatory captains meetings really put a hurt on my tournament participation. Except for bs'ng a bit with others, grabbing your goodie bag, and Mark announcing the lines in time.. it's kind of a waste of time.

I fished many bass and inshore boat tourneys where the meeting is held early morning just before launch times.. and that works out much better for me.

I have not seen or spoke to anyone.. the office hours are 9-5 on weekends, you pay a non-refundable deposit on reservation, then balance due when you arrive, 2 night minimum stay required.. sent an email explaining.. its up to them now.. River Palms response will determine if I ever stay there again.

finatic, I was there, arrived about 3 on friday afternoon, Silver Civic in front of room #7 with the old Blue/White ScupperPro on roof.
