2012 Tampa Bay Frogman

Post by Heywood »

Post your pics here.

Had a great time this morning. Got to see some old friends, made a new one, we had beautiful weather and more kayakers than swimmers.

My swimmer was retired Orange County Sheriff Stew Blocktin. He finished in 1 hour and 20 mins.

Some decent pics there Heywood. Hope to see many more.

Looks like you guys got great weather this year. I hear they had plenty of kayak volunteers this year. Tip of the hat to all of you that volunteered. Wish I could have joined you but my granddaughters christening won out.

More kayakers than swimmers ... cool!! Makes me feel a "little" better about missing this.
Sure looks like better weather than last year ... that was some nasty weather.
Nice pics!!

What an outstanding morning! I was amazingly fortunate to be paired with Becca Mann, a 14-year-old world-class open water swimmer who absolutely burned up the course in 55 minutes. I am sure we'll be seeing her on a platform accepting a medal...

Who took those or where did you find them?

Thats "Perch" in the first one, holding the 2 x 4 paddle. He drove all the way up from the Miami area to be here. Look for him in the next Watertribe Race.

Tampa Bay Frogman Swim Facebook page. There's a guy named Todd Montgomery who took hundreds of pics.

Very nice, paddle-fishers. That's a nice amount of money raised for a good cause.

Gotta give mad props to all the great swimmers, the volunteer kayakers and of course, the event committee and support. This was not a small event by any means. I was happily honored to be a part of it all, and will gladly do it again next year if I am able.

Peace-

That's Fred Decker and Phil Tower

Good pics Cisco. I wanted to shoot that opening ceremony, but just make myself do it. I'm sure I was like a lot of others using the time to reflect on the names that were called out. :salute:

Did they greet the finishers with a cold beer again this year?

Man, I wish I could have been there again this year. Looks like a perfect day for a paddle across the bay.

No, no coins either and the sweatshirts were 50 bucks. Each swimmer had a chip on their ankle and had to run up to shore and across a mat. This was the official timing device.
