Please read the article tell me what you know of this kayak orginaization and the people associated with it. I live very close to the proposed kayak sight they are talking about and plan to contact the city council to inquire if this will be a completely private venture as in we will have to pay to launch or if it will be open to the public. http://www.tbnweekly.com/pubs/pinellas_park_beacon/

I've known Kurt for a while. He has been instrumental in clean up efforts on Clam Bayou. Makes his money giving ecotours and seems to be a sincere environmentalist. Takes out alot of photo tours, at least he used to. He has received a few grants for his efforts, including a free kayak rental for cleanup participants. I don't know anything about the venture in the article, but I am all for a launch on the creek.

I think it's a great idea. I know Kurt and family pretty well. I've taken one of his eco-tours, bought my first kayak from him and participated in several of his Clam Bayou cleanups. His wife is an artist who paints on recycled stuff. They both are really conservation minded.

Bill is right on about the no motor zone. When I read the article, it mentioned Butler having been on the water with an airboat, but I didn't take it to mean that they were included in the plan. I sure doesn't seem like something Kurt would sanction.MrSpectaculous wrote:I was interested until that inclusion for airboats. What I would like to see is a "NO MOTOR ZONE" for the entire area north of the Pinellas trail"

That would be a great time to give him input on the project as well as ask him some questions 8)Rik wrote:Have Kurt Zuelsdorf speak at a BACK meeting.
