a MUCH better week

Last couple of weeks I have had a tough time locating fish for me or for the three different friends I took out. Granted most of the time the winds were howling or a cold front had moved through so I opted to take a more sheltered place rather than a place I know I could catch fish. Rocky Creek has ...

Rudder unless you like to paddle very far and then wade. But if you drift a lot and stay within a few miles of your put in a rudder makes a lot of difference...

I love to fish that area when I can and if you want a sure bet go off the causeway right where manatee ave hits it on either side, cast a Berkley Gulp with a red Bass Assassin Jig Head in about 4-6 ft of water and cast along that until you get a bite. Anchor and fish the area well and you should hav...

RedFish Curse broken...

Since I have joined this forum I have had the worst luck with reds. I could go out and get 1 or two nice ones every other day I got out on the water but when I started looking at this forum all that just stopped. I still got plenty of snook and trout but I was cursed when it came to redfish... Until...

Yeah I went there today again and found that little path with the PVC on the Guard Rail. I was just in too much of a hurry to get on the water and didn't look where I was going (young and inpatient). I used it today though and it worked great, I will probably make a clearer note of this on the desti...

R.I.P. brand new Mirro-dine

From the destinations page I think I was in Miguel Bay or close to it... Anyways, I got up early and with a healthy 3 hours of sleep I drove to the south end of the skyway hoping to escape the early morning wind. I had never fished this area before but saw a bunch of pelicans and gulls diving on bai...

Carp will occasioanlly eat a bread ball, but Tilapia are just trash fish, and I definately wouldn't eat anything out of a neighborhood freshwater pond... All sorts of nasty chemicals in there...

Sweet, I am on the right track, just got in my order of power locks 2/0 1/8 and 1/16 (just in case). I saw people using them for Gulps, and wondered if they would work on paddle-tail as well. Alright, got the hooks, got the DOA CALs now if I dont catch a red soon I am gonna start using dynamite. Tha...

Are you using a paddle tail with just a standard jighead, with the hook coming out of the top? Or do you rig it weedless, with a spinner, what? Because I have been fishing around a bunch of reds that never want anything to do with what I throw at them. I fan cast until my arms are sore and get ready...

So I took the new pelican kayak out this past weekend and had an interesting time. Pros- Being a shorter kayak, it turns much better than a longer kayak. On flatwater this boat did pretty good. Its not slow and has plenty of storage space both in the back well and the front hatch. The deck of the ka...

Stop buying scupper plugs everyone!!! If you go to Wal-Mart or a golf store you can find the foam prcatice golf balls. They fit in any size hole and stay there! They work like a champ and instead of paying $10 for 2, you $2 for 10.

I just purchased this kayak as a second kayak for friends to come with me. I haven't tried it but was wondering what the second rope was for on the bow. I get the anchor trolley, but whats with the other one? Also gotta say you did the right thing with relocating the forward rod holder, its too far ...

I bought a Tarpon 160i because it had the speed I needed to transition from a touring kayak to a sit on top, while also giving me the ability to hold all of my gear (something my touring kayak was not good for...). Once I got into it I realized just how different the sit-in and sit on top were, but ...

Homosassa Area Anyone?

I am headed that direction so I figured I would cast a line on my way up but I have no idea where to put in at. I would rather not paddle 2 hours to the grass flats only because I am bringing a novice with me and paddling at night two hours back doesn't seem like something she would be up for. Any S...

Upside down

I have always carried mine upside down and it works great. You can also put two side by side just tie each one down individually to that back bar or they may decide to fold up into each other during the trip.
