Vudu

Has anyone had luck using Vudu shrimp or mullet? I'm curious if they're more of a gimmick to catch fisherman or if they work well. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Re: Permit or Pompano

Looks like a permit to me....but that may be just because I really really want them to start showing up in the area! I do believe it is a permit and I hope he has lots of friends.

Re: McGill Flats Blue Spinning Rod / Sabalos 3000

I just read this thread which was completed back in December. Excellent long term review of affordable fishing equipment. It's easy to have a short term issue with one reel or rod and then think "these have all gone to crap". A good long term unbiased review is great to see. Thanks JB.

Safety

In the last couple of years I can think of three very unfortunate, sad situations where a kayaker became separated from his kayak and lost his life. I'm sure there are more, but these three came to mind. One was near MacDill in Tampa bay a couple of years ago. His kayak was found and a day or two la...

Re: Why I fish from a kayak

In the fall a couple of years ago I was fishing Palma Sola and came around a corner where there were a couple of guys heaving lures as far as the could over an oyster bar that was blocking their entrance into a small lagoon surrounded by mangroves. I didn't pay them a lot of attention and was just p...

Re: MirroDine magic

The trout cooperated nicely except for one problem - finding fish below 20" was very difficult. My first trout was 23 and went in the bag. The next 5 fish were all over 20". I caught a dozen or so trout all on one rod and one lure - the small MirroDine. If you're going to have a problem, ...

Re: Recommendation for a new reel

I don't think you'll go wrong with the Stradic. I have FH, FI, FJ and CI models from 2500 to 4000 series. In the end it all comes down to personal preference and the depth of your wallet. I'm sure there are those that would say nothing less than a Stella would do. If I ever spent that much $ for a r...

Favorite Rod/Reel For West Coast flats fishing

First, I just want to say I realize that this isn't a fishing report and probably would be better suited to the General Forum but I'm specifically interested in hearing about the type of equipment folks in this area use. Next, I do realize that this type of thread has been done before, but I think t...
