First inshore slam
Yesterday Thursday I went to my favorite spot near Caledesi Island. Conditions were perfect for top water lures. After an hour I only had 1 half hearted pass from a lady fish. I switched to a chartreuse white jig. same results. Mullet are swarming all around but no bites at all! I casnetted green ba...

wind tide big macs
Friday I went to Caladesi Island the wind was stiff but the bay was calm. The NE wind blew me to the island with hardly a stroke. Along the way I used a white paddle tail plastic with a chartreuse jig head. There were so many undersized trout it was annoying. I ALSO CAUGHT 2 GOLIATH GROUPER IN THE 8...

Caladesi report
Today the 9th I went to Caladesi Island for some relaxation. There were acres of finger mullet all along Huricane pass to the bird island on the south. I foolishly assumed that this was an indication that fishing would be hot. the wind was calm making the paddle a breeze. I only caught 1 red a lady ...

Lock jaw
Super low tide Friday morning. I launched the kayak on the South side of Dunedin causeway based on wind direction. I paddled to Caladesi looking for reds. Using a paddle tail with a chartreuse head I got several bites and SURPRISE a slot snook! This was in 12 inches of water. I then noticed allot of...

Friday at Caladesi
Got out early Friday and found a super high tide. I trolled an elastec 3 in minnow in a sparkly translucent grey and a chartreuse jig head I thought looked like a glass minnow. The paddle tail really kicks a lifelike action. I hooked numerous under size trout to the point it was annoying. I then cas...

Re: Bull Reds
Look for Mangrove shoreline with current, The reds are in the trees at high tide. Also find mullet schools the reds are following them or under them if it is deep. Finally cut mullet if artificial lures fail. I have good results with DOA shrimp. Light colors in clear water dark colors in murky water.

Bull Reds
Wednesday incoming tide no wind moon dark. This was the formula for success. There were Bull reds along Caladesi island. I caught 2 over thirty and kept 1 22 in. for dinner. My tape only gos to 28 in. they were over that by an estimated 4 to 6 inches. Really weird bite I used cut mullet for bait and...

Re: beach fishing advice!
When I walk the beach at Honeymoon island Tarpon are often seen rolling just offshore. They seem to be following the first sandbar on the Gulf side. Mullett, snook (in spawn Season) trout and flounder are common. I have also seen acres of ladyfish churning the surface. I have personally hooked large...

On the water Monday
I went to Caladesi island Monday before the front. I thought that fish would be stocking up before the storm. They were not. I caught 1 bull shark and nothing else. The wind started blowing and took me back to the causeway without paddling more than keeping on course. I was out before the rain hit.
