I am also not a big fan of being tied to my kayak, but you have to make the call based on each situation. For example, I fish mostly in Mosquito Lagoon and rarely is the water depth more than 18 – 30 inches so I don't feel too threatened about getting flipped out of the yak, but if I were off a beac...

That's definitely good info. Thanks fellas, I figure with the temps warming up as long as there are baitfish in the area, we got a good chance at making something happen. Bottom line is we are fishing til we find something.

Thinking about getting a cart for my solo trips, but don't want it to end up in the garage as well. Just curious, why are you using it now? Your answer may help me decide whether I REALLY need one or if I am just addicted to buying stuff for my yak.

I also made my own and now only use my actual anchor as a backup. I used 3/4" PVC because I wanted the little extra strentgh since between my kayak, gear and my own weight.....well you get the picture. Also, on my Native Manta Ray, during travel the stick pole fits perfectly in my factory paddl...
