Re: Leaders fo Tarpon??? Need help from the TARPON guys!!!

Yeah that was 1 hour and 45 minutes (remember accidentally hooked that one, 12 lb mono main line), I had the swivel that the leader was tied to reeled all the way up to the eye of the rod and the fish was still slowly towing me, I cut the leader as close to the fish as I could reach.

Re: Leaders fo Tarpon??? Need help from the TARPON guys!!!

Yeah new leader for each fish, the leader is either wearing through at the hook (I use a loop knot and the knot is still tied when i get the line back), or 2-3" above the hook.

Beach Thursday (4/14) if anyone is interested!

I am planning on launching from the surf Thursday (Ocean permitting, lagoon if not) to try and catch whatever is out there. I am willing to meet anyone at their spot if they want within an hour or so of metro Orlando area, if not I will be launching from Playalinda (National Seashore) at sunrise. PM...

Do you ever fish on weekdays? I refuse to go on the lagoon on a weekend.

Re: Sun n Fun this weekend

Just a few of the damage pics from Sun-n-Fun. I was volunteering when the storm rolled through, almost certain it was a weak tornando, but we couldn't see through all of the rain that kicked up. Sorry about the poor picture quality, all I could bring out in the rain was my waterproof phone, and all ...

Re: April Options

There is great fishing at that time in the Merrit Island NWR. If you don't mind a little surf you could even go off of the beach. The No Motor Zone is fun if you don't mind a long paddle (can be accessed from KARS park for a $5 fee). Look at the destinations page on the forum and try some of those s...

Kings in the spring, Anybody going?

I am interested in tagging along with someone this spring if the go out for some kingfish. I have never tried catching kings from my kayak before and I want to learn the techniques. I have caught them from a boat several times, but it was always 14+ miles offshore. I have been offshore in my yak in ...

Re: Deep Water Re-Entry

Talking about swamping a native, I do not think it would be that hard if you were caught in decent swells with a chop. I have been caught in this situation in a 17' canoe. At first there was only a little spray coming over the bow. I had quite a distance to cover though, so eventaully the water buil...

Re: Scary stuff.

For a quick example, this is the defenition of "Take, Taking" from the FWC.

"Definition of “taking”: Taking is defined to include taking, attempting to take, pursuing, hunting, harassing, capturing or killing"

In this case, merely fishing would be a violation in the MPA.

Re: Scary stuff.

So basically, all we're talking about is not being able to keep fish from a few protected areas. Is that really so bad? Or would you like to see hunting seasons opened in National Parks as well? Alot of these areas do not even allow for the targeting of fish. Meaning if you are caught with a fishin...

Re: rtm key largo Sydney Australia.

How much better is that seat than the factory seat?

I think I am the only one in florida that fishes out of one of the Key Largo, but I really like it.

Re: Totaly Cornfused Paddle or wade fish?????

I will typically get out and wade when the fish I have hooked is big enough to pull me clear across the other side of the bay and out to sea. I can get more leverage on him by standing in the sand, or when i am stalking Reds in the Mosquito.
