Wind knots in the braided lines (they all do it to some extent) are caused by the line coming off the spool faster then it is going out the tip of the rod. Stray wraps on the spool accentuate the problem. They're called wind knots because the problem happens more often in the wind. The wind blows th...

.....I just choose not to be a part of a passing trend. ...... As a Croc convert who was fully on the 'fugly Crocs' bandwagon, I can say that I will wear them as long as they make them. I have yet to find a better, more comfortable, every day, knock around shoe. The 'passing trend' will be the Croc...

Why, yes, Norm, I have made the move to the Croc Crowd. I did one of those manly jock adjustment moves - to make sure it was still there - and put a pair on my feet. Wore them for a day and had to check again. Yep, still there. They're damn comfortable and all the chicks still dig me when I have the...

Hook replacement on lures

I bought a lure at the tackle shop that was sure to catch fish. It looked so good that I hardly noticed the $7.99 price tag. Small price to pay for fishing success - even if that small price a few years ago was only $4.99. But that is another topic. You find the spot, cast it out and WHAM, your hope...

...I also like to set my drag lighter so my rod doesn't get yanked out of the holder...then you have an audio reference if you have a fish on. That is what I did with the Gulp Shrimp I trolled. I had the drag turned way down. As Shane said, you hear the line stripping out and don't have to worry ab...

What would you do?

Okay, here's the situation. Hypothetical, of course. It's a Saturday, a week before the big tournament. You're doing a little recon, checking a few places out and you come upon a spot that is hot. Now, you've promised your bride that you're going to bring some fish home for dinner. You had to go thr...

The size wooden dowel that fits inside the 3/4" PVC is not nearly strong enough on its own. You'd probably have to go way up in size, over an inch, to use just the dowel. That 50 cent dowel inside that 50 cent piece of PVC makes for a pretty stiff stakeout pole. Or you could get some fancy wood...
