Pine Island Report 1-18-08

I fished the lower end of Matlacha Pass yesterday, Friday and caught one 18" trout, many smaller trout and some large lady fish. I did not look for redfish as it was cloudy and gray sky all day and the tide was rising fast so they were hard to see. It wa a cool and breezy day and the lightweigh...

Pine Island Report

Aiden, I am curious. When you say you launched at the SW area of the sound do you mean your launched at Ding Darling Refuge on Sanibel? I live on the island now and am still exploring. The wind and tide are always factors in my success. I am glad you found a hungry live snook. I received a credible ...

Broward County Peacock

I tried the canals west of Miami for LM bass and Peacocks after Christmas with no luck. Finally went to a favorite lake in Pembroke Pines and caught a few largemouths and this nice Peacock, my first on a topwater plug. South End of Pine Island

I have lived on Pine Island for over a year and I am still exploring but am familiar with most all of the Public kayak/canoe launches. The far south end is St James City and it has no public launch sites that I know of. But, you can put in to the Monroe Canal at several marinas in St James City then...

Sanibel Saturday

Anorito Well you did much better than I did at Sanibel today with your two reds and a snook than I did at Matlacha Pass south. Looks like getting there at low tide was the ticket but I really dislike dragging my kayak over hundreds of yards of muddy flats. Did you run across any trout or ladyfish? B...

Malibu Mini-X

I have fished out of the Malibu Mini-X for about nine months. It is my first sit-on-top and my goal was to have a short one for less weight and ease of fitting in the bed of my pickup. It meets these needs nicely. The Mini-X gets the job done. It is stable and has plenty of dry storage with the thre...

Oregon Rainbow Trout

This trout was caught near Eugene, Oregon this past July on a small may fly imitation. It was in a catch and release section of river, just before dark

Pine Island Fishing

I have been living on Pine Island for a little over a year now and have been kayak fishing as much as I can find the time. I would like to find another nearby kayak fisher to join me in continuing to explore these extensive waters. I like spin and fly fishing. Please drop me an email as an introduct...

Sebastian Fishing

AndrewP- you did not say where or how good your fishing was on Sunday. I moved from Sebastian last August to Pine Island. I love it here but do miss the opportunity to fish the Indian River. We are getting a tad cooler water in PI Sound now and fishing for ladyfish and trout is picking up and redfis...

I hooked a nice trout and had it about fifty feet from the boat when the line tenison suddenly disappeared. i landed the front half of the trout, The back half became shark dinner. New Pungo

I presently have a 10' Pungo that I use as a backup to the 10 SOT Malibu I fish with. My present Pungo is my second as the first was stolen. My main disappointment with the 10'Pungo is that the front foam floation block came loose in both boats. there is not a drop of adhesive on this foam block and...

Punta Colorado

Jim, I want to commend you on a fine Baja report. I visited the Los Cabos area for two weeks in May 2005 and really enjoyed it. Only fished from shore as we had no other friends there and I di not want to leave my wife stranded on shore. I enjoyed the snorkeling at some small beaches along the south...
