Re: fishing ding darling need info

September is usually a good month for redfish in Pine Island Sound. And, you should have access to miles of shoreline with your kayak. You may also run into some snook that are returning to the Sound after spawning on the beach. Trout are also available on grass beds and in the sand holes. Good Luck

Re: Golf Course Bass

Here is a Mayan Cichlid and a Sunfish-Bluegill from the same lake in Cape Coral. A few bass are still available but only after sunset. http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff121/dollarduck/2013-08-10BigCCMayan.jpg?t=1376260071 http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff121/dollarduck/Aug2013NiceSunfish-1.jp...

Re: First Big Blue Tilapia

I have since caught one a few inches longer and another about 2 " shorter.

I am amazed to see them take a small beetle spin lure. I do not see a tilapia spawning circle so wonder what they are trying to protect? Perhaps some of their own fry? There are many bluegills where these tilapia are.

First Big Blue Tilapia

Caught this one in a Cape Coral lake this past Sunday.

Released after the picture. Nice filets but not sure about the water quality.

I was catching large bluegill in the same spot.

Re: Cape Coral Big Blue Tilapia

I finally caught my first big blue tilapia.

I hope this photo bucket picture works

This fine fish fought well after taking a small green beetle spin lure. I released it to fight again.

Flatz Commander

Yes, the access is at the end of Whitfield, very limited parking, good for wading for reds.

Use earplugs as you get really low flying planes as Whitfield is only a couple of blocks from the end of the airport runway.

Re: Cape Coral Largemouth Bass

Black Crappie in Cape Coral. I got lucky after several trys and hit the correct news source. This fisherperson actually was a witness to transporting large live crappie from lakes in the central part of the state and releasing some in Cape Coral fairly near where I caught mine. That was several year...

Re: Long Boat Key

I cut my teeth on kayak fishing on Longboat Key. You are going to love in one of the most beautiful places in Florida so, enjoy. After you try all of the places by others here you will start finding a few launch spots of your own. And, drive around the waterfront in the Village at the north end. I r...

Re: Cape Coral Largemouth Bass

mauso1 I know where there are some easy big feeding grass carp in NW Cape. Just need to take the time to fish to them with a fly. I will do some more research on Black Crappie in the Cape. The guys at Lehr's Economy Tackle will be my first source. I was going to take a photo with smart phone but cra...

Re: Cape Coral Largemouth Bass

Bass fishing has slowed to a crawl. The canals are full to the brim and the water is flowing and dark. Tried plastic worms, crankbaits and top plugs with very few hookups on bass. I have been catching a few larger Mayan Cichlids. Good fighters and fun. I caught a Black Crappie today, a first in 7 ye...

Re: Snook Opening

You folks wore this subject out but, My totally unscientific take on snook population around Pine Island/Matlacha is that they have not recouped enough after the double year freezes to open the season. I love to fish for and release them and have my favorite spots where they should be. They were jus...

Re: Cape Coral Largemouth Bass

Bass fishing has slowed in Cape Coral since the weather turned over 90 deg each day.

I am still catching a few smaller bass on a Heddon topwater plugs like Tiny Torpedo.

Three days of heavy showers may perk things up, I hope.

Re: Miami Peacock Bass Update

godsmack You were fortunate to get into a community with a lake that has peacock bass. And, the fish south of Miami survived the double year freeze better than those further north. I have tried a spinner for them just a few times and probably gave up too soon. They will chase and take other plugs th...

Miami Peacock Bass Update

I got to fish several hours on Saturday and again on Sunday. The peacocks were just not where I usually find them. Those spots were receiving a strong easterly wind and water was choppy and murky. I finally managed to ease into the leeward shore of a couple of lakes and caught four fish total in abo...

Nice bass on a green popper.

The LM bass are taking similar bugs here in SW Florida.

Holy Mackerel.

Please let me know if you figure out a way to upload pictures from Smart Phone to this site.

That would really liven things up.
