Re: ? Largemouth Bass News
Sorry boys - we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Too many kids, dogs, people around. Even it it minimizes the odds of a single trip to the hospital then the snake is history. These snakes aren't going to kill anyone, but they will put a major smack down on you. Cotton mouths, copperheads, r...

Big Dawg...vinyl sticker
So I'm working one early morning and just watching things at work. After a while I start reading a variety articles and like a late night purchase of a Thigh Master I decided that I wanted to get some bow stickers for the boat. Something you would never get during the saner hours of the day. I kinda...

Re: Hanging a tarpon...CCA style
We have an arrangement. I married her for her good child bearing hips; she married me for my potential income. Which she points out that after 26 years - has yet to be realized.

Seadek nonskid pads
I noticed in my older Wilderness Commander 120 that the previous owner had placed some nonskid pads for standing. Over about 2 years they peeled and eventually wore off. In addition to that ye ol' stinkpot had some really slick gunnels, and in the never ending quest for poon I tend to stand on the g...

Hanging a tarpon...CCA style
If you're expecting a cool poon story there ain't much here. If you're good with supporting CCA , having a couple cold adult beverages, and thinking hey...I'm too cheap to frame anything at a pro shop read on. So...the first thing you need is a couple of these and some buddies who imbibe as much (or...

Re: New need help
I'm pretty far south to assist on locations, but seeing that I'm watching some computers grind away and I've got little better to do on a Sat morning...some random thoughts. I have two knots that I used 99% of the time for inshore fishing - I only deviate if I find a topwater plug is hanging on the ...

Re: Dear Wind
Thought the same things when I launch yea old stinkpot last weekend from Williams Park. I think the forecast was 5-8; Dang if it wasn't 10-15 at the Skyway. The solo quest for poon was on - as well as for about another 30-40 boats. Side imaging sounded a whopping 0 poons, but did show a bunch of bai...

Re: ? Largemouth Bass News
Killed a couple coral snakes a month or so . You're a smart guy so I'm hesitant to raise this but, you know me. 1. Are you sure they were coral snakes? They are typically quite secretive. Often found under debris or logs and such. Daytime encounters are rare as they are most often nocturnal. The sc...

Just paying it forward. I suspect Dave's kids will be at fish camp with Wonderboy this summer. He works there. Seems fishing is a lifestyle for our family as well as Dave's. At $120 for 2 weeks, it's probably the best deal in town. They also go offshore fishing with Hubbards. Now if I could just get...

Re: ? Largemouth Bass News
Not aware of where you are catching the big ones jbdba)1 but nice to read your report. I used the rapala flatrap 6 which is about 3" long for baby tarpon and caught many, some on the silver color. Will try it now for Cape Coral bass. On a recent visit to the ER in the Lee Memorial Hospital, Ca...

Re: ? Largemouth Bass News
Killed a couple coral snakes a month or so ago. Oddly we don't see cottonmouth/copperheads that much. Perhaps the key word is see. Osprey have been pounding the bedding bass, but that should be over shortly if not already. The bass here love the silver 3" rapala and they really like the 3"...

Nice...he did get on one poon in one cast before. That was a wonder. Especially as the bait hit the brim of my hat on the way up, landed 10' from the boat, and BAM...
Perhaps "Hidden Horseshoe" is better.

Along those lines...from last Sunday
Used kayak with paddle - $200, Wright McGill/Sabalo combo $160, Zmann Paddletail $4...watching my college son put on a clinic with 7 snook, 2 reds, and one trout - priceless.
Gonna have to find a new nickname for Wonderboy...he's a young man now.

Re: New Boat ideas
Best thing I did was cut the kids loose solo. We fished out of canoes and they were kinda blah about the whole thing. Made them captain of their own boat and they were living it up. I cut them loose when they were about 11/12. Boy wanted to fish, girl wanted to take pics. Back waters should be fine ...

Re: Pinellas county kingfishing
At the risk of cross forum posting I wrote this up last week. Moderators - delete/moderate as you see fit. Some words of advice - don't go solo; personally I would leave the bigger ones behind - the smaller ones will taste better; if you bring a fish with choppers on board know that they are razor s...
