Only reason I ask is we're getting new phones soon.

Most fish were taken on CAL 4-inch jerkworm and CAL 1/8-ounce jig head. Also caught a couple of Rapala X-Rap. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/flherd1971/AAARivertest.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/flherd1971/AAAgartest.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/flherd1971/AAASnook...

Just curious - what camera you using and lens if applicable? Canon EOS Rebel XS. Lens is either the Canon 16-55mm or Canon 75-300mm zoom. OK - kinda cross threading this thread here ... Are you using an underwater housing or how are you keeping the camera from getting wet? Do you take it out of a w...

The fish don't jump in the kayak by any means. But you're rewarded if you just keep at it. I landed five snook, four redfish, four largemouth bass and two gar today. Also, hooked and lost several fish (one breakoff). Two days in a row that I managed a river slam (snook, redfish, bass). I also caught...

I have been fishing the Myakka River at the Border Road launch. The river is beautiful and very uncrowded. We've been doing well on bass to 3 pounds using Texas-rigged Culprit 7.5-inch crawdad worms and Rapalas. Didn't encounter any snook. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a139/flherd1971/20110127_5...

Enjoyed the river today. Caught snook to 29 inches, redfish to 22, bass, gar and bluegill. Action wasn't fast, but the result was quality fish. Top lure was a D.O.A. 4-inch jerk worm on a 1/16-ounce jig head and a Storm Kickin' Stick. Had one half-hearted swat at a topwater. The racoon fell for a cl...

Hank and I fished the river on Tuesday and did well, catching about 100 bluegill between us. We also managed three bass and a channel catfish. The fish were going for poppers and Myakka Minnows. We used 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-weight fly rods. Tippet was 7X monofilament for the poppers and 7X fluorocarbon ...

Fished the Manatee River today. Launched shortly after daylight and headed upriver for about a half hour. Tide was outgoing, so I started to fish while drifting back toward the launch. Big bluegill were taking No. 8 poppers, but the bite wasn't great -- until I switched to the Myakka Minnow. Then, i...

I've been doing fairly well on Lake Manatee with a fly rod. Been averaging 60 fish per trip. They've been mostly bluegill, but we've also been catching a few bass, speckled perch, shellcracker and channel catfish. On one trip last week, I hooked eight catfish and landed two! Nymphs and the Myakka Mi...

ChrisR wrote:What size hook do you use when you tie the D.T. Special?
Chris,
Any size from No. 6 to 1/0. Depends on the size of the bait and the size of the fish you're seeking. Generally, I like about a No. 2.

From what I've read, it was cold enough early enough that a lot of the Snook were holed up in the canals and bigger potholes before the huge deepfreeze came along. Yes, there were Snook lost but not as many as most believed. p.s. Nice fly!! Thank you, Gil. The fly has produced more than 3,000 snook...

Great numbers of snook in the surf. That's good news after our record-cold winter and substantial snook kill. We've been averaging eight snook per trip. Fish have ranged from 20 to 36 inches. Seeing lots of big fish, but they're not easy. Surf is loaded up with bait. We've been using 6- and 7-weight...
