Reviving kayak caught tarpon.
Catching it and getting it alongside for the beauty shot (if you can call a pic of Shamus a beauty shot) is not the end of the story. Tarpon ALWAYS need to be revived. If you don't, they'll sink to the bottom and become crab food. There is absolutely no reason to kill the fish by not reviving it. If...

Re: Dolphins
Back to dolphins, there is a difference between dolphins and porpoises (all while excluding the non-mammal dolphin fish we love putting on our dinner plates). Both are saltwater mammals. However, porpoises are not commonly found in Florida waters. They prefer colder waters. So, what we are seeing ar...

Dolphins
On our super secret tarpon beach, we've suddenly started experiencing bait steal dolphin. While this is new for us, it is very common around some of the fishing piers in Tampa Bay. I talked with my neighbor Randy Wells, the Program Manager for the Sarasota Dolphin Research Program at Mote Marine, and...

Nice catch Walt.
Looks like you need a name change. That's not a Trident you're paddling these days.

Re: My return to fishing
Only if Barnacle could help me carry it. We're still working on his paddle stroke. He's got it down while in the water but not so good yet while in the kayak.13 wrote:Maybe you should sell it & buy my Big Tuna. Plenty of room for your fishing buddy.

Re: Some Free Scouting/Planning/Stayin'-Alive Resources
Not that many years ago I had a good buddy who worked for the state of FL in a mapping department of some sort. Knowing that my Dad and I fished Bull and Turtle Bays quite a bit he decided to send us a present. One day a large cardboard tube showed up and inside were several very large aerial photog...

My Dad did the holding your mouth wrong thing for years. When I got older it was "its hanging down the wrong leg of your shorts".
Yeah, I adjusted it.
