Re: trout hole

The upper part of Terra Ceia Bay, above the bridge at Sea Breeze Point just past the Crab Shack usually has a bunch of smaller trout and decent size ladyfish. I take my Grandson trolling in a canoe with a trolling motor there using 3" GULP pogy's (pearl) on 1/8 oz. jigs, or any kind of curly ta...

I very much agree that live bait chumming is ridiculous. IMO it should be banned. The FWC just needs to answer one question - If it's ok to feed the fish in 'protected aquatic preserves', can we feed the rest of the animals also? How about if I set up some feeding stations for spoonbills so I can ph...

I apologize for the remarks I made about this area, was just still pissed off about running into the mullet men. This area has a lot going for it, nature and people - wise, and a lot of problems, like everywhere else. I just wish more people were like most of those I read on this forum, and could re...

Good question and point, but with the lights off couldn't get any boat numbers. As far as I could tell, & I was trying to fish not study mullet boats, all the boats had cast nets. I think Palma Sola Bay is probably a bit too exposed for gill netters, maybe not. I understand cast netting mullet i...

Mullet Madness

Launched into Palma Sola Bay at 0430 today, within 30 min. was almost run over by a mullet boat running without lights. He saw my headlamp at the last minute. No fewer than 5 mullet hunter boats blazing all around that little bay this morning. One brilliant pair kept making donuts at high speed in t...

I'm certainly not as experienced as many who post here, but do fish a lot at night, so I'll share what's worked for me. I go real simple on gear, often taking only one rod/reel. I throw white Gulp 3-4" shrimp & pogys, Mirrodine & Mirrolure topwater plugs (Poppa Dog, Top Dog Jr.) in clea...

Very nice job & great google pics. The Vamo Road launch across the bay from Turtle Beach is another good one. If you see a guy crammed into a tan Heritage Featherlite at Buttonwood Harbor, say hi.

Vamo Rd. reds

Went to Vamo Road this weekend, 3-7am. Nothing but thousands of mullets back in the groves, not a bite in 3hrs. Went across the intracoastal to a little flat between mangrove islands for the last casts & hit a school of reds on the feed. Caught 7, 3 in the slot. Last minute action saved the morn...

IMO, yes

IMO, chumming is going to need to be banned eventually. All it takes is to ask one question: In what other regulated, managed, wildife environment are people allowed to indiscriminately feed the animals? Answer: feeding wild animals anywhere that is under any sort of wildlife management is universal...
