Hell, it never was very special in my opinion anyhow. I've never ever done the NMZ that it didn't blow like Hell and/or rain like the Great Flood, or the Men In Black didn't nudge me back to legality with their assault rifles. The best fishing is far north .. and even better is the east side along t...

Note on Eddy Creek launch site: I was there a week ago and it was about unusable. The combination of high water levels and dead grass means you have 20' or more of sludge to get through to get to hard bottom. The tip off, when I arrived, was there wasn't a vehicle at all in the parking lot. I was to...

Those that think any of the area east of the shuttle recovery channel is open are dead wrong. Some might try it, make it, but the Men In Black will send you packing .. Even before 9/11, I pulled into the mangrove shallows on the east bank to take a leak. I stepped out of the yak, looked up and into ...

No. East bank .. east of the the shuttle recovery boats' channel, has been closed since 9/11/01. That includes the famous huge redfish turf of the spoil islands running east/west. From what I hear, that's the way it will be forever. Your only launch site is off the causeway or at the Banana River Dr...

You all need to use a Texas rigged plastic. slides right thru the grass with no trouble nor snag-ups. And, the reds are laying in that grass as the day heats up. The grass is far worse in areas with northern exposures. Like Pelican Island and the areas around it. And, by way warning, the Eddy Creek ...

Paddle into Puzzle? Not this boy. You know the stretch of the St Johns just south of the Hwy 46 bridge, that runs east/west; then dips south down towards Puzzle; is about one of the most treacherous on the river. Not sure why. I've rescued many a small jon boat caught in the current and winds out th...

Forced2 Work: not to worry. Won't be any crowds as few folks could find Puzzle even with a map. I know that for certain as I used to get lost with tourists on my airboat!! I wouldn't blow your honeyhole .. I figured it was too remote; and it is. Your only company down in Puzzle will be a couple of C...

Just curious DaveR: the older Stradic 2000s, which I have, are pretty tough. I'd thought the new 2500 came in a 'magnesium/non salt" model and one that is better in saltwater. At any rate, I use my 4000/2000 Strad's heavily (80+ days/yr) with good results. Is the 2500 a step down? I agree with ...
