Re: GPS Fishfinder
Thanks, great options and foresight. I would think that side imaging is a given in a kayak at least for me as the water is often less than 2'. My plan is to mount the unit close to where my foot pegs are then run the wires inside the boat hull to a traducer mounter also mounted in the hull. Should m...

GPS Fishfinder
Hey all, I am considering adding an GPS Fishfinder to my kayak. I am not well versed in them so here is what I'm thinking. I fish the same areas most of you guys do around Sarasota and Bradenton. It's generally over the flats and sometimes off of Anna Maria where the water is deeper. Also to note I ...

Re: Tarpon time
Hi Rik, If I remember correctly you guys park behind the church on 43rd on the island or thereabouts and launch from there on the beach ?
I also think you stated fish approx 150 ft outside the markers ?
If the wind ever slows and it works with my time off, I am ready !!!

Re: Monday Night Snook Bite
Excellent read. I too have the goal of a Tarpon from a kayak. I have also been contemplating picking up a night light for the yak so I too can fish the docks. I haven't done that either. It has been said on this forum to fish with a buddy especially with Tarpon. I'm not so sure that the Tarpon doesn...

Re: Making It Easier To Load My Kayak On My Car - Video
That is way to easy ! I use a similar method to load the Big Tuna on a GMC Suburban. I had read where you guys use bath mats. I bought a mat of sorts from a company named Thulie. ( Swedish ) It worked way better than carpet as this ole girl comes in at 87lbs empty. I pull the boat to back of the tru...

Palma Sola 4/11
Hello, plan is to be on the water when the sun rises. I have changed up my arsenal as the big Snook and Redfish are mocking me. Twice now I have seen them in staging areas if you will and no interest. I have changed jig heads to 1/8 oz, made sure all my arti lures have a loop knot and my leader is o...

Re: Sarasota Bay
The Best Laid Plans. Launched just a tick before 8.00 am Sat to calm waters and no fish. I didn't really expect to see any as it was almost low tide. Drifted with the outgoing tide as did a few other kayakers until we found schools of mullet. I threw live shrimp all around them, then went to both so...

Re: Sarasota Bay
Palma Sola : The fish are back. I went out at approx 12.00 to fish the outgoing tide. Threw a shrimp into an area of activity and Bam one nice sized Redfish. Threw a few more in the same area and nothing so I moved on. Around the oyster bars the water fairly clear and the fish were everywhere. They ...

Re: Sarasota Bay
Thanks again, that is an area I'm going to check out. Tomorrow ( Thurs ) I'm heading to Palma Sola. Perhaps the moon and the stars and the tides and fish gods will smile on me with a nice Redfish or Snook.
