Re: Lake Surprise
Wish I could say I went. Conditions, at least by my house, were too horrible to even load the kayak up and go. So yet again I am waiting for a clearer day to head out.

Lake Surprise
Hey guys, looking for some input on this. I am planning on hitting Lake Surprise down in Key Largo. Was wondering if anyone on the forum has fished there before. I am planning on launching from Gilbert's, heading west to go through the smaller channel that runs parallel to Jewfish Creek, come back t...

Yeah I remember reading about that you can't fish in the pond. Just curious, is the fishing normally good out of Coot Bay? What sort of artificials work well in there?

Re: Flamingo 06-13.14-2013
Well we saw small tarpon rolling, and my gf hooked a small snook at the bridge in Buttonwood, but it spat the hook. As for her, she loves to go fishing, I like taking her out there.

Re: Where to fish?
Yeah, I remember hearing the same thing about by the airport. Just not sure of where to launch from. As for this week I will just go ahead and go to Flamingo. According to the predictions the tide looks like it's going to drop rather early. I guess that's the time to fish the channels?

Re: Miami Peacock Bass Update
I remember a few years back I was catching them like crazy at Mowry Canal by the Homestead Miami Speedway and some other lakes and canals in that area. My largest was just over 5lbs caught on a 1/4oz. jig head with a twin tail pearl grub. But the most amazing catch to date was a smaller peacock bass...

Re: Golf Course Bass
That is a nice lookin' bass there. I have not been largemouth fishing in quite some time. And when I got my kayak a few weeks back I have been sticking to mostly salt water. However I just rigged up a bass combo, just a cheap rod/reel my dad had lying around and itching to take it out to do some bas...

Where to fish?
Hey guys, I am not too familiar with kayak fishing in Miami. I live in Pinecrest and want to find a possible snook area I can go to that is relatively close by and a place to launch. Generally I have been going down to Flamingo, but money is getting tight but I am determined to at least kayak fish o...

Re: Flamingo 06-13.14-2013
I made a long paddle from Flamingo to Coot Bay this past Thursday and didn't get as much as a hit. My girlfriend didn't want to launch from Coot Bay Pond, so by the time we got out there the sun was way up, and too tired to paddle around the Bay. What time, and where is best to fish around in Coot B...

Re: Miami Peacock Bass Update
Down in Florida City a friend of mine let my girlfriend and I into her apartment complex, I forget the name, we caught a few Peacocks right at the shoreline and they were certainly in their spawning season. In 1 hour we managed to pick up 3 that ranged from 4-4.5lbs, but they just didn't seem too in...

Re: Personal Best Snook
Well if they lasted that long so far then I feel I made a great investment. I don't wanna do too much touching when certain fish have that mucus membrane that is not good to remove from them. I'm all for preservation. And also for the toothy ones lol.

Re: Where is the best plac to live and Kayak Fish?
I will say I am not new to kayaking, but I am new to kayaking the areas I have been going. I used to have access to a kayak when my grandparents had their house in Taverneir. Now I have my own kayak I just bought about 2 weeks ago. However, my favorite fishing spot is Flamingo. As a kid my dad would...

Re: "My Boat" - Wilderness Systems Tempest 170, Kevlar
Either way you took what you had and made it do what you wanted to do. Well balanced or not if I was in that situation and really wanted to fish I would rig it and do the best I can. I have used a lot worse for fishing when I used to live in the Keys. As a kid right after hurricane Andrew I was real...
