It kinda looks like the ones used by snowbee rods.

I watched the free video hosted by Mudhole. Man, at first I thought it was soooo unprofessional, then the guy said a few things and all of the sudden....I started to really enjoy it! I can't recall his name but dude gets the "keep'n it real!" Award of the year! Man, what he lacked in profe...

Are all reel seats capable of having a fighting butt added to it?
Is there some sort of system used to indicated if a reel seat can have a fighting butt added without having to jerry-rig one on?

I think it's time for me to head up to mudhole and buy another book...

I just placed my order. I bought an extra set of single foot snake guides with the standard kit. The logic....I didn't want to be doing ALL of that wrapping, so I'll just swap the doubles for the singles! lol I also went with a two peice blank since it was cheaper. I'm not going to do any fancy wrap...

Fitting reel seats the the proper grip

OK, here's the question.
I want to use a cigar grip. The only ones I can find are for downlocking reelseats. So, If I have a fushmount non-inleted reelseat, can I still use a grip designed for a downlocking seat. I'm assuming that I can. Are there any issues I should be aware of?

I enjoyed you answering your own question. Top notch. lol, I'm glad you found the humor in it. I've been reading a book by L.A. Garcia. Great book! I figured that I'd go with a kit but I can't get any answers from those guys, stuff like, if the guides are single or double foot or if they add the ma...

Hmmmmm, very cool. I assumed that since EVA is such a soft material that it wouldn't sand so well when adjacent to a harder material. I also assumed that it would tear at the intersections also. Well...thanks for the proof otherwise!

Nice!
Wish you were my dad! lol
Seriously though, that is super cool!

TEch wise, So is it rather difficult to turn cork and EVA together since they are different densities?
What's the finish on turned EVA since it's an extruded material.

In loving memory to snookcrook, I'm going to answer my own question: Hey, Yohan, how's it going budy. I think that Matrix kit is the way to go! Great looking blank with a decent med-fast action. However, Check out the special being ran at hook and hackel ! They've got 20% off from April 4th to April...

Help a brotha' out (Kit selection)

OK, I'm about to break down and get my first blank kit and I need a little help I've selected a few kits from different vendors. I wanted to strike a balance between something cheap (Just incase I mess it up) and something practical (If it comes out nice I'll actually use it) These are my current se...

Have you tried any custom shapes, anything such as the "power hump" you see on some of those Bass Pro baitcaster grips....however shaped more so for fly rod?

This is what I built. It works well. I'm only building a few rods, so I didn't want to shell out any extra money. If I get around to it, and whenever I finish my first debacle, I'll put up a pic. I'd like to see that. I've resolved to not buying one unless I get a super sweet deal on a wrapper/drye...
