Yohan's 2nd rod is done!

OK boys and girls. First off, I KNOW my pictures are terrible! Momma did not raise a Photographer! Anyway though, here it is. My second rod. It is a 8'0", 2 piece, 6wt, built from a rootbeer (Tiger eye) colored lamiglass blank. These blanks are now discontinued but for the price it was a great ...

I used a rainshadow 4wt. on the last build. The finish is a bit better. Rainforest is made by Pac Bay. Shadow by Batson. www.batsonenterprises.com Not sure on JP Ross. I've only seen ads in the back of magazines. rain this, rain that....it was just too easy to assume all that "rain" came ...

Why bother with brushes, I get a better result using plastic (fake credit cards you get in the mail) and cutting to the width of the wrap. Glob the finish on the wrap and then use the card to shave some of it off. It's a cheap version of the spatula. That's interesting...I'll have to give it a try ...

could be, I'll print a G2 pic and take it to mudhole.
It's imposible to determine thread color using the printed color charts from the manufacture.

Question:
Anyone know what color thread Scott used on their new G2?
It looks like they when with some sort of Honey colored regular nylon thread and didn't use color preserver. It looks wonderful!

That's great bro, can't waite to see some pics! This rod building stuff is fun! Just remeber to practice a few wraps on a scrap peice of blank/rod befor you try the real thing and also try a few attempts at epoxy on it also befor you apply it to your actual working blank. You learn a lot that way wi...

Never had a problem with them. You might want to check the amount of tension you're apply on the thread. Are you getting the fuzzies after cutting the thread? If so, carefully run a lighter over the wrap to get rid of the fuzzies. I got the fuzzies throughout the entire wrap. I was testing colors o...

does guidrod thread suck.
I've got 5 spools of it and one spool of pacific bay.
ALL of the guidrod thread is prone to the "fuzzies"
The pacific bay is not! However, everyone carried guidrod but not pacific bay.....What's up with that?

I was told by some much better flyfolk that this is caused by jaming the section directly down untill they lock. I was told that it's much better if you slide and ROTATE the sections into place. I've had it happen to me ONLY when I get sloppy and jam the section together. I hope that helps
