Mangrove Man wrote:LOL your misunderstanding me. I was just wondering how a spinning reel would work on that butt style rather then a fly reel. I don' know of any spinning rods with that much cork in front of the reel.

grip is from Cabela's. I only have a Glock 40cal. 40 cal didn't fit the end of the blank. The last time I was at the range I picked a few casings off the floor. I also went back another time and just asked the range master if he had anyone shooting 44's and could I have the casings. He went back and...

I'm not concerned about body contact but rather how having my rod hand in front of the reel or on the reel seat as is my current practice. Ohhh, "you'll shoot your eye out kid!" Not to worry, the shell is spent! No bullet, no powder. Just the part that hits the ground when the gun goes po...

I wonder if anyone has tried that butt style on a spinning rod? I wonder how it would feel. If your avitar tells the story...It might hurt a little. lol I always have a PFD on so I'm less sensitive to that issue. Honestly, I don't think it would hurt any. it doen't extend much from the cork. maybe ...

Yohan's 3rd rod is done!

O.K. Boys and Girls, I finally got another one done. This is rod number 3. It's a 9'0" 8wt rod built from a Graphite USA blank. I used black, sunrise, and copper thread. This was my first attempt at using spiral wraps. There are 4 spiral wraps here. I also incorporated a spent and cleaned .44 M...

http://www.rodbuildingforum.com/ Has some tutorials too. I only have one reamer, I've used it on all of my rods (3 finished- 3 in progress) except one. I've got a 4wt that just happen to have been a perfect fit without reaming. I got my reamers from mudhole. I don't know if the quality is better tha...

They're out of my price range also but they are in line with Sage, GLoomis. Very high end. If you ever get your hands on one, you'll know why! The technology they used to build their blank is leading edge. Only other company using something similiar is GraphiteUSA. I actually got my blanks through ...

its a good thing I have a drafting/engineering background. As do I but architectural lettering is still kinda, well...ugly on a rod. I switch to script and all that disciplined lettering falls to peices! lol I took a look at that CTS...yeah, very pricey when you add shipping and 4pc options! Puts i...

Soooo, um, if you're into carp....are into catfish too?
If so, do you have wells catfish in merry ol' England or do you have to go across the creek (English channel) to get those?

I'm still broken hearted over the sight of that rusted water logged camera.
