Re: Favorite Rod/Reel For West Coast flats fishing

7' star stellar lite, medium with stradic ci4. 10# power pro. Nice and light, makes me not want to pick up my older combo's.

Re: PFTS #4 - Hook, Line and Legal - info and sign in

I'm in, I've never fished that area so it should be a good experience. Look forward to meeting you all. Is there anything I have to do prior to showing up for the sign in?

Re: Braden river?

Thanks Norm, I tried it today. 2 small snook and lost a nice one. No reds, I didn't even see one. I went down the river didn't catch anything against the mangroves till I got to some docks that's where I got the snook. Nice day at least the sun came out and caught a few. Thanks

Braden river?

Good morning, I was thinking of trying the Braden river off highway 64 in bradenton. Anyone have any input on the area I haven't fished there yet. Thanks

Re: flats fishing

ChrisR, you may be right about that, an area i fish in Bradenton there are patches of it that are sometimes an acre in size. The day before I posted the subject I was fishing that area and and it was a slow tide and there was only about a foot of water covering it and i was casting a jighead and pad...

flats fishing

I was wondering what they call the seagrass that is brownish color an real puffy looking. And how do you fish it? jig heads with shad tails don't seem to work too well. Are you supposed to reel it fast enough so it doesnt get caught in the weeds or jig it? Or should I switch to a weedless set up. An...

winter wading?

I've been kayak fishing for a couple years now, mainly Bradenton area in the winter. I haven't waded much out of the kayak because I don't have the gear. My question is do most guys rough it with shorts or do most wear waders and flats boots. Just wondering the pros and cons. thanks Mark

Nice job, I went in the morning and my spots out of the wind didn't produce. Did you wade or kayak?
