Re: Fishing Log App
I've looked at several too, for iphone/ipad. Found nothing that I found useful. So I kind of did my own, created a form in Pages with the info I wanted, copied it to Penultimate and I can jot down the info on my ipad when I get home. Using a stylus is different, don't know if I like it or not yet. S...

Re: drinking beer while Kayaking
Florida statutes define a kayak as a "vessel", albeit one that does not require registration. The BUI statute only talks about a "vessel operator" that can be charged if determined impaired. Presumed impairment is the same as in the DUI statute, a .08 or greater BAC. Unlike the v...

Re: Remembering CooknFish
I'm enjoying reading the Cook stories, but hate that he is not here to chuckle over them. Or maybe he is.... I like to think he is, and he is enjoying himself. I think of him everytime I tie a loop knot, he used to make fun of mine til he showed me the technique. Maybe I'll tie one wrong just to se...

This is a great loss for many. Mark was always smiling and willing to help others. I'm thankful that I knew him as a friend. RIP, CooknFish.

Re: Fishing guides?
I would also recommend Neil Taylor. If you are not looking for a kayak guide, check out Brent Gaskill, great with kids.

Re: CapJoe's / Fishon Lures / Edge Hooks
Don't know about the Tampa side of the bay, but Bill Jackson's carries the Edje hooks with a good selection. In fact they are hanging right above the 12 Fathom tails. (give the seaweed/white color a try).

No idea if this is a good deal or not, but Cabela's has a special on the WaveSpin reels.

Re: Anyone else have this problem?
I have been fishing a lot of "dog walkers" this fall and winter and I can only suggest what seems to work for me. I've tried to develop the habit of the rod twitch and reeling up the slack as two distinct movements, i.e. don't do them simultaneously. Twitch, twitch, reel, then repeat. I ha...

Re: Paddling pains
Rik, my symptoms mirrored yours and I had surgery in late 07. Significant relief but the problem still exists, just not as severe. At least now I can actually get out of bed instead of rolling out onto the floor. If you found something that works for you, stay with it. The Native seat has been a god...

Just wanted to say
Thanks to PF.com, the mods and, most of all, the participants of this forum. I've spent another year looking over your shoulders, learning, stealing ideas and enjoying kayak fishing. This site is the first stop for those interested in beginning to fish from a kayak and a must read for those who are ...

Re: New v. Used
I've done both, purchased new and used. No regrets in either transaction. If you decide to go used, I would have confidence in buying from those advertised here. If you buy new, major brands as you see used by these members will stand by their products. Off brands, I have no idea. Good luck.

Re: Suggestion for fishing
One other suggestion. Search out launches and areas you want to fish on GoogleEarth, concentrate on transitions, holes, sand bars, troughs, grass with sand holes, cuts between mangrove islands, etc. That way you have some idea of areas to cover as opposed to blindly fishing unproductive water. Good ...
