Re: I dont remember FL being this damn cold!

We had snow here in the panhandle... it didn't stick but it was thick enough to reduce visibility to less than 1/4 mile. We love the snow so we drove an hour north to Andalusia, AL where they got around 5" of snow on the ground, so we had plenty of fun.

Re: Question about Life Jacket

With all the bureaucracy, it is good to see they do have at least semi-understandable rules and regulations and not 50 different rules saying different variations of the same things, or micromanaging every single specific type of craft (aka different rules for canoes versus kayaks).

Re: Diggin these Crocs.................

I have a pair similar to that... bought them at the outlet mall, the official Crocs store in Foley, AL and was one of the only pairs they had in stock in my size (14). They are comfortable in the canoe as long as I am not standing for more than a few minutes at a time, otherwise they kill my feet.

Re: Question about Life Jacket

1) There must be a life jacket accessible, but there is no requirement that it be worn at all times, EXCEPT those under the age of 6 are required to wear it all times while moving, but not stopped. Since a kayak/canoe is considered always moving, it is always required to be worn. All vessels are req...

First trip out

Finally got my first chance to take the new (to me) canoe out on the water, went to a local 65 acre lake. The temps and water temps have been too cold to take it out... so finally got a nice weekend day with no rain, although the water is still in the mid 40s. A little shaky as it was first time out...

Re: Question about Life Jacket

Is life jacket mandatory for kayak fishing? You also need a whistle or other signaling device You mean the screaming and splashing isn't enough  I think a lot of it depends on the situation, since I only fish freshwater ponds and lakes, they are not required, but I still keep one close by.
