I use two ratchet straps, one on the bed extender and one inside the bed. I snug them down tight but not to tight. never had a problem even on the freeway.
Great idea from Rik about raising the extender, never thought it but will give it a try....

Use purple or pink...doesn't matter as long as you have sufficient leader length... Me I go the length of my rod but that's just me...

It's about a month since I've been there last and never did like the launch. The ramp is so narrow with the railing it's difficult to get your kayak down to the dock. Hopefully they fixed that...
