Re:

:salute: 1) Don't buy the cheapest fly rod you can find . It may be tempting, but cheap rods don't have any "feel", which is exactly what you need as a beginner. One specific tip is to avoid any rod with a plastic reel seat. You will learn to cast much faster/more effectively with a decent...

Re: Flyfishing for Beginners

Read as much as you can early on. You'll catch more fish and avoid many a frustration, especially if like many you have a hard time finding a mentor or consistently getting out with a guide. http://www.amazon.com/Fly-Fishing-Saltwater-Lefty-Kreh/dp/1592280781/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1...

Re: Kars Park

Gate was open 6am to 9pm last time I checked. Its 5$ to fish and worth every cent. Get there waaay before sunrise and head north. Keep covering water until you find tails. Don't forget to check out the 1,000 islands 5 miles south of there or so, especially if its windy... much easier to get out of t...

Re: Mosquito Lagoon Help

If your staying in NSB launch from parking lot five in the canaveral national seashore and head south to the the poll and troll zone. You can also launch from JB's and head west into the islands. Good luck.

Re: Sunglasses

Here you go man. Any of these will be great for inshore sight fishing. Just ordered a pair of green mirror 580s for $95. Don't really need em but couldn't resist  Smith Backdrop techlite glass lens green mirror $56 http://www.geartrade.com/browse/102/1008/1005/item/130090" onclick="...

Re: Sunglasses

Check out smith optics. Heard nothing but good things about them and their high end glass frames run at least $75 cheaper than costas. They have an amber based green mirror lens and lifetime warranty. I would have gotten a pair instead of costas but couldn't find a damn retailer to try them on first.

Anyone getting out tomorrow morning?

Thinking about hitting MB or CRB early and seeing if I can find any reds. Anyone planning on getting out? Not too familiar with those areas but I'm trying to branch out from the Upper Manatee.

Re: Bamboo push pole

Checked Lowe's today but couldn't find anything the right length. I'll try Home Depot next. I've got 7 weeks until my trip to ML/NMZ so I'm still kinda hoping a 12 or 14' Stiffy pops up on craigslist. errrr....

Bamboo push pole

Anyone know where I can find some bamboo in the Bradenton vicinity? I refuse to pay $200 for a 12' long stick that will probably just get stolen or swallowed by the depths again

Feel free to PM

Re: "Hold My Pole" push poles

Good info. Hope there was nobody behind you when the pole flew out  I talked to Tom at Wang Anchor and he put me in touch with Joe at Carbon Marine who builds carbon fiber poles from TFO components. According to the website he has free shipping to anywhere in FL!

Re: "Hold My Pole" push poles

I had a wang anchor and lost it the first day over the side of the boat in the main channel of Perico bay  That reminds me if anyone finds it there would definitely be a healthy reward! Anyway I figure I should just replace it with a regular push pole seeing as I don't plan on using it to stak...

"Hold My Pole" push poles

Anyone have one of these? http://www.holdmypole.com/gallery/index.aspx?aid=17" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Theyre made in Bradenton and I tried to get in touch with them to pick one up but haven't heard anything yet. At a little over 100 bucks these look very promising.
