Re: 2010 - 2011 PFTS - a recap and ??? about the next series

I assume I am a good example of one of two groups that don't make these events. People like myself just can't get away to fish regularly, much less sacrifice our whole Saturday to pay to fish. I love fishing these tournaments, have met many great people and appreciate the effort that goes into each ...

Sounds like a hell of a morning, Joe! Glad you found your wallet, but can't explain the wife voodoo they come up with to keep us from fishing!!!

Re: W.S. Ride 13.5 owners?

Dave, forgive me if I chime in without firsthand knowledge of the T14 to compare, but I love my Ride135. I'm 6'2", just over 200 lbs and top heavy due to a big head. While I don't stand and cast, I have become very comfortable standing and paddling looking for fish. It has a great secondary sta...

Re: Pulled Pork Recipe

For those of us without a fancy smoker, I recommend this... 3lb butt or shoulder (trim any excess fat if you like, but I don't) 1 orange for zesting and sqeezing 1 bottle of your favorite bbq sauce Throw 'em all in for eight hours on low and pull apart, throw on a nice hoagie roll or bread of choice...

Re: Fort Desoto 2/20

That is a great catch and release practice. If you can release them at boatside without lifting/touching, they stand a better chance. Or you could just let them get off boatside like I do, but I'm just a natural at losing fish like that and this skill can not be taught!!! Nice trout, Rob!

Sounds like a great day on the water for you two. It seems like she catches more than you, or is it just me!!! Did you guys catch those on shrimp? Thanks, and great to hear the reds are hungry.

Re: First Time to Double Branch

Great report, Tom!! Glad to hear you gave DB a try. It is great to get there and coast out with the outgoing so you can cast some, but you do have to steer from time to time. It does take at least thirty minutes to coast out, but if you just paddle with the current it could be done faster, but why n...

I'm not an expert who knows when and where to fish each tide by any means. My novice approach is just to make sure there will be water where I want to launch. Some put-ins may require a 30' walk across the mud to find water on a low tide. I just pick where I'm launching based on water availability o...

My friends/family still look at me funny when I tell them about fishing from a kayak. It'll take awhile before I get someone to give it a try, but I think its a great idea. It would not only strengthen participation, but open people's eyes to a great low-cost competition and meeting new people. Good...
