Re: Born & Raised

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that you found Paddle-Fishing. The bad news is that you are about 5 years too late. Some number of years ago this was an amazing community with a wealth of knowledge. However, over the past few years the activity on this site dwindled to almost nothing...

Water Is Warming up Again

I went fishing here in Sarasota a couple times last week and found good action. On Wednesday I completed a slam with a 28" red fish, 22 inch snook and 22 inch trout. I also caught a couple more snook and lost a couple more. Really nice to see the snook out again. My second day was not as good o...

Re: What the Hell Is Going On Here or Actually Not Going On

Interesting that this thread is still going. I have to say that the lack of activity here has lead to me not checking in here all that often. I do really miss the "community" that PF was when I first joined. I also really miss the the PF tournament series. Again I miss it for it's communit...

Re: Buttonwood windy day

I will almost take that as good news. I have not been back up there in a couple of months since the red tide got in there. If you caught some trout that is a positive sign that the fish are starting to come back.

That is good news, but how was the fishing? I keep hearing that the fishing is way off in most of Sarasota bay.

Red Tide at Buttonwood

Last week I made two trips up to Buttonwood Bay. The first day I noted a few dead fish floating, but not lots. That day I did pretty well on snook and trout. I went back later in the week and there were lots and lots of dead fish. The air was just full of all kinds of birds feeding on the dead and d...

Re: Where are the kayakers?

I used to be a very frequent contributor to this forum. However over the past few months it has become almost silent. As we have discussed previously it appears that other social media has pretty much put this to bed. I will give it another shot and start posting here if it looks like the activity i...

Re: Palma Sola

Did you see any signs of red tide impact up there? I usually fish Buttonwood and on Friday you could definitely tell that red tide had gotten into the bay.

Re: Kayak Fishing Is My Meditation

Interesting that you call it a craft. Not a word I would use, but we may be saying the same thing. I view an important element of my fishing, skiing..ect. as problem solving. What do I need to do to make this go better. Probably my best example of this was my catamaran sailing. On a light boat with ...

Kayak Fishing Is My Meditation

This Sunday there was a segment on 60 Minutes about mindfulness (meditation) and they talked about being in the moment. It caused me to think about how often I really am in the moment and not thinking about what has happened in the past or what is going to happen in the future. Then it dawned on me ...

Yes. You may not catch any fish, but you can get a beer on you way back.

Re: T-reign 7.5 pliers with retractable lanyard

I have a similar pair of pliers made by Tsunami. They have a spiral spring cord on them. I carry them attached to the side strap on my kayak seat. They see lots of use and lots of saltwater. The get a good rinsing very seldom. I have been using them for over three years now without a problem. I real...
