Re: Paddle vs Peddle

Never tied up to a hobie but have been in tidal pass at full currents on a few trips at Longboat Pass and also in Strong Winds several times in various locations and have never had any problems keeping the yak going where I pointed it. Your physical size and condition would certainly enter into the...

Re: My return to fishing

That really makes it so much better to stand up and I believe I can paddle better against the wind with the body height moved up higher.
Are you able to slide rods under that seating arrangement as well?

Re: Paddle vs Peddle

Am also included in the Native kayak family. I paddle the Native Ultimate 12' and I peddle the Native Slayer 10 Propel. Will agree that Hobie offers some good yaks but hands down the Propel Drive used in the Native models is the game changer with the 'reverse' ability. You mentioned you are at time...

Re: Beat the Heat

Looks like you broke that boat in just fine.
Looking at some of your pictures it seems that all those grooves in the deck would be pretty uncomfortable to stand on especially barefooted or with just 'beach shoes' on. Any problem for you?

Just curious Rik. Did you ever do a raised seat modification on your Ultimate?

Re: Best non-permanent adhesive for mounting a battery?

Lexel clear is available at Lowes and Home Depot. It says on the tube that it is superior to Silicon for adhesion. Native uses it to hold flotation foam in their kayaks. I have used it to attach transducers, battery boxes and various starboard items to several kayaks. Can be removed but does take a...

Re: GPS Fishfinder

Salt water, not so much. I use my sounders all the time in fresh water. Only way to know what cover and contours are below in deeper Lakes and Rivers. I would definitely be sure and get 'color' as opposed to gray scale. Much easier to recognize structure and contours with color. I have GPS in both ...

Re: Vudu

I have used the 3" Vudu Shrimp since last summer and have just recently purchased some of the larger 5". I feel the 'flexable tail' action of the Vudu has enticed more bites than I have gotten using the DOA and Tsunami versons. I also find the Vudus hold up a little better. The 'kevalar' ...

That did work well for sure. Have you considered trying the 2 side by side rear wheel fix?

Re: High seat Native u-12

Ric has it right on the seat supports. There are three 1/4" stainless 'fender bolts' on each gunnel (2 through the arm rest plates and one just arrear of those plates) and the center storage box under the seat which prevents any sag in the base plate. I accually have found that storage area to...

Re: Recommendation for a new reel

Really am happy with my Stradic FJ's and the newer Ci4's. I am using 3000 FJ's (2) and one 3000Ci4 and one Ci4 4000. One thing I would add is water washdown after each trip and reel oil every couple of months. I have purchased all my reels from Discount Tackle in Bradenton as they are the only deal...
