I didn't catch the fish. That's my friend Shawn from Holmes Bch. He caught that last sunday while shark fishing off the beach. He was trolling a plug trying to catch a baitfish when he got hooked up on that 20 lb kingfish. He caught it on 10 lb test using a shallow running plug.(no wire) Sometimes y...

I got an E-mail from a friend out on Bradenton Bch. He said the Kingfish are back, and accessable by kayak. He was only a couple hundred yards off the beach.

If your trolling a spoon you can have problems in a hurry with braid or mono. A swivel helps, but doesn't eliminate the twisting altogether. It's a good idea to cut off your bait and troll (line only) for a few minutes, that will untwist your line. BRAID IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO!!! Once you learn how t...

as far under the mangroves as you can get them Thats good advice! There's a casting technique where you skip your bait under the mangrove limbs. You'll loose alot of plugs before you get good @ it, but you will catch alot of fish there. Try going out when it's low tide. Make a note of where the oys...

I have been fishing the south Tampa Bay waters for the last 35 years. 35 years ago the fishing was awesome. When you cast a line in the water, your expectations were that you were going to catch a fish. As the years progressed we had to work harder and harder to get less results. Some where in the l...

If you go to marker 9 in Tera Ceia Bay, it looks like a parking lot on some weekends. If you drive over the skyway @ 6am there's @ least a half dozen guide boats baiting up . With that much pressure you would think it would have some impact(at least in those areas). I do alot of fishing out of the b...
