Try fishing off the beach in Anna Maria Island. The pass @ the tip of the island (Bean Point) is a great spot for getting spooled on something bigger. There is plenty of access to the beach, but not much parking. You'll have to park a block or 2 from the beach access, and still have a hike from ther...

No need to chum. Work your way up the food chain. Bring a small spinning outfit, and cast or troll for bait (spoon works good). Catch a ladyfish(my favorite), jack, blue runner, bonita or mackeral. Score the live bait with a sharp knife to wound it, but don't kill it. Fresh cut bait works good too, ...

We used to fish for them in kayaks. They are a lot of fun to play with. Summer time is your best fishing. We fished for them right off the beach, and after they drag you around for 10 minutes, we would paddle for the beach with the fish in tow. It's alot easier & safer to handle and release them...

Perico

With the super low tides and the nasty weather, today would have been the perfact day to have a PFTS event in Perico. It would have to of been a little colder to make par =)

I'm thinking Tarpon! Boca Grande Pass. It would be an interesting video of you fighting a 200 lb Tarpon for 20 minutes. You could capture some serious drama footage when a 16' Hammerhead shark tries to steal your catch. This would definatly be classified as extreme kayak fishing.

Any shallow running plug will work. Diving plugs end up running shallow anyway, you don't have enough speed in a kayak to force them down(while trolling). My favorite would be a Yozuri "Crystal Minnow", Mirror lures work great too. If you want to get a shot @ a big fish, you need to think ...

I think this whole dispute should go before the "Honorable Judge Yakner" in "Kayak Court". Both sides should seek kayak-councelors to represent them.
Both parties should appear in court bearing a bottle of single malt scotch whiskey. Loser forfeits his whiskey!

It will need to be licensed if used in FL. That makes is a boat... Your right about that. (But) Who would know it's got a motor (assuming you hold your paddle and pretend like your stroking) :?: I would bet that some law breaking rebel kayaker type could fly under the radar easily with this boat. :...

Re: SPOT - Satellite Personal Tracker

Does anyone use the SPOT - Satellite Personal Tracker. Can you tell me how you like it, the good and bad points to them. Thanks I got one a few months ago (primarily for going offshore in the boat). I have taken it with me while kayaking, and it works good for tracking the distance you paddle (if y...

I have been looking @ the "Trident 13". I just can't afford it.

The cost is $1500/month for me to buy it, not to mention the attorny fees. The wife sais she's booting my ass if I put another kayak in the garage. I guess I could sell one? Now I'm talking nonsence!

138#s ? Kayak Newsflash! There's been an epidemic of Hernias & Herniated discs with Hobie Kayak Owners. Authorities are baffled by this strange phenominon. Krypto-zoologists point to Big-Foot and Extraterestrial sighting as possible cause  . More @ 11:00

I got mine for the boat(primarily). I go offshore from time to time. In the past I have hooked up with other boats to ensure safety. The down side is having to tow your friends (that have older boats) back to the launch site after they break down. The Spot gives me a little more courage to go it alo...

Spot Device

Spot is running a promotion where they are giving their Spot device away if you subscribe for 1 year ($150). I have one of these and they do work. I use mine to keep track of distance covered while paddling, and some day it could save my life. Similar equipment (PLB) would cost you $600-$1200 or mor...
