Paddle Needed

Just got back from school for Christmas break to find my paddle has snapped. Itchin to get out fishing but now I'm stuck to wading or paddling with a broken paddle. I'm a little financially strapped as a college kid around christmas but if anyone has an old paddle laying around they don't use I coul...

ML 1-15 in the canoe

Went out with my buddy from school on Friday morning to the lagoon. Put the canoe in at the last lot in the seashore south of New Smyrna. We got out and although none of the lakes or the intracoastal had wind when we were driving it was blowing in the lagoon. Hate that. Started off at some spots tha...

Gandy Area

Went out to a multi species wintertime spot that I haven't been to in a long time and did pretty well today. On the way there I caught about 10 trout all legal sized with some notable 24,22, 20, and 19 inch fish. I caught all these on the trusty red speckled doa. Once I got to the intended spot I fo...

Was visiting some friends down in venice this past week and caught a bunch of small macks off the beach and had one eaten by a king on the way in. I could see the bonita and kings busting bait offshore but everything looked to be movin south pre...

It seemed pretty high for the North wind we had that day, but I know the full moon is approaching. Lets put it this way, all the oyster bars were covered. The tide did start to rip out pretty hard for the little three hour drop that occurred according to the tide charts for saturday.

DB Saturday Afternoon.

Went out this afternoon after it warmed up some. Saw a few fellow paddle guys on my way down the run. I was in a blue mainstream kingfish. Wonder if it was anyone from here. Anyways, caught nothing on the way down the run but saw a few nice snook. When the tide turned caught a few respectable trout ...

I've fished Scottsmoor a couple times since I've been over here at school and never had much luck even when the water was high. It was just continuous lifeless flats with lots of pufferfish and a few trout. If you ever do go back there though send me a pm or im or whatever and i'll hook you up on a ...

Thats actually what they call a snapping shrimp. Its like a mini mantis shrimp. We've been learning about them in my invertebrate zoology class at Stetson for my Marine Bio major. We were actually out in the intracoastal in New Smyrna looking around today and finding bunches of them. Look like sheep...
