Re: Braid reversing

I built this to clean my fly lines, used it to do exactly what you're suggesting. Clamped the reel into my vise, clamped the cord winder to the workbench and cranked away.

Re: Smoked Bonito Fish Dip (Oh Yes I Did)

My Mom said she used to eat them all the time when she was a kid. (lived in Fla since 1940 something) Bleed them right away and soak them in buttermilk was her suggestion.

I'm going to try it if I ever get the chance.

Re: So long, and thanks for all the fishing!

Good luck! My brother is in Alexandria and kayak fishes there. The Orvis shop in Arlington has some good people in it. I'm a CISSP and have gotten alot of pressure from my brother to head that direction as well. Haven't had the guts to do it yet. Good luck up there. You'll have to get in touch with ...

Re: Orvis Battenkill Mid Arbor

Nice! I just picked up a used Battenkill Large Arbor and it seems really nice so far. Smooth drag and retrieve. I can't wait to get some fish on it.

Here's a good pic, google dropper rig or chicken rig.

Here's a way to tie the loops if you want to skip the swivels.

Nice! Dad and I were up at the Vero Backcountry store checking out the vises last weekend. Maybe he got the hint. =) Hoping to get setup to tie soon. It was really hard to look at all the cool stuff they had and keep the wallet in my pocket. Enjoy it.

Excellent! I think I may bring my kids on a canoe trip to their favorite island and do a little cleanup too. A little fun and learning to be responsible all in one. Leave it better than when you left it was always a reinforced message camping as a kid. Time to pass it on.

I'm no expert but I handed a 7wt version to my casting instructor and he agreed that it was a perfectly acceptable rod to learn on. I tried out a couple of his high dollar rods that are now 5-6 years old and definitely noticed a difference but I would feel confident with either one. I almost bought ...

This whole tackle organization thing is contagious. Tonight I split my tackle up into more manageable units. One small box for freshwater, one for wading/paddling another one for offshore then there's the chest pack for saltwater fly fishing and a small freshwater fly box.... wow. Thanks for the ins...

Most of my time is spent on remote rivers, and for that, I think the paddle would be very practical. Many times I’ve tried to push off a log only to have my paddle slip. And the hook would be great to help latch on to stationary objects while in current. I like it, a multi-tool paddle. For flats or...

I need another paddle for the canoe I just bought. I guess I'll pick up a composite one. Shouldn't be hard to trim it up and make it look like that.

Careful! My little brothers sit - in bent in half on his roof rack from the weight of the water. He was working in Wash. DC. for Fema and should have been the first to know that Faye was coming but I guess he missed that tidbit. I hear he drained it and it was ok though. I'm looking for the p...
