I built this to clean my fly lines, used it to do exactly what you're suggesting. Clamped the reel into my vise, clamped the cord winder to the workbench and cranked away.

That looks pretty cool, I think I'll try that trick.

My Mom said she used to eat them all the time when she was a kid. (lived in Fla since 1940 something) Bleed them right away and soak them in buttermilk was her suggestion.

Nice! I just picked up a used Battenkill Large Arbor and it seems really nice so far. Smooth drag and retrieve. I can't wait to get some fish on it.
