Tilapia

Anybody ever catch them of fly?

I have a bunch of them or Nile Perch (samething?) in the pond behind the house. I tried a small white fly I use for snook, but they were not interested.

I know they will eat a pc of floating bread, so maybe you need a fly that looks like that.

Tilapia are easy on the bed. Use a turd fly. Bill at Bill Jackson's tied some for me. Its a brown thingy on a small hook lol, fuzzy pipe cleaner looking. I found black works the best. If I can find one ill take a pic.

I just drop them on the bed and the fish picks it up and spits it off their nest, its quick so you better be ready.

I was thinking a little white fly like I use for mullet.

There are some nice beds, but I think a guy came by the other day with a cast net and netted them while they were on the beds.

Dump the fly on their bed and let it sit. They will pick it up to move it. When they do, stick em. I just tie a piece of crap that looks like debris.

Make a fly that looks like Romaine Lettuce. That ought to do the trick.

Tilapia

I have been catching a few tilapia accidentally while fishing for Mayans in a big pond here on Pine Island, They will occasionally grab the tiny jig and white or yellow soft plastic tube or curly tail

So, I am sure they will also take a snall light colored Clouser minnow fly.

I am blind casting as the water is too cloudy to see them.
Be thankful for every day and especially those fine days on the water
