Redfish 06/12

Post by DouGR81 »

I figure I'd throw up a report for old times sake..

Took a break from the sharks and fished for redfish this afternoon. I caught a bunch of rats on a DOA shrimp before they ripped it to shreds. I forgot to bring extra DOAs today but luckily there was a lone package of Exude crabs hidden in my tackle tray. I made three casts after rigging it on a leadhead and got garbaged by a big one..It came up to the surface and shook its head like a big snook. The funny part was I actually caught this same redfish back on May 18! I could tell by the single spot on one side of the tail and none on the other, along with a few scars on his body. The reds stayed deep during the heat of the day (can't blame them...damn hot out there), but I did manage a couple more before calling it at 2pm.

You always have a high quality report whenever you post, if I was a rich man I would pay you to fish and blog about it. Great content as always and cool story with the redfish you caught twice. I always wonder about the fish I catch, if I or someone else has caught them before and how many times.

That's rad to catch the same red twice and realize it. Same area? 3rd time's a charm?

Your Pics are ALWAYS stellar

Im not sure where you live ..just know your south of me, but me and my girlfriend are going to be staying on Ft Myers Beach next week...on Thursday, Friday and coming back sometime Saturday morning. Im planning on walking the beach some to see if I can find some action in the surf. Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated

Hey Norm..I don't fish Ft Myers Beach due to it being pretty crowded during the day..If you go a little bit south you'll have more luck...Either way, get out early and you'll find the snook.

Nice, the fish looks bigger the first time you caught him.
My posts are my opinion only.
