Re: Braided line help!
I've been using braid for a quite a while and agree with all the suggestions that have been posted so far. I have to agree with Evan though about casting to hard and trying to "muscle it" throught the cast to get a little extra distance. I've noticed when I try to get that extra distance i...

Re: Are You Near A Restaurant?
Great post! Thanks for sharing your experience. Hopefully by passing this on people will atleast think twice before going out in adverse conditions and if they do decide to head out maybe they will plan a little better.
Thanks again

Re: Thursday Fishing
Yeah, I got lucky to find a good deal on a demo model. I had the smaller native 12 and haven't been in the larger or tandem models but was very happy with mine and would recommend it to anyone considering a kayak purchase. The track system for the commander is a cool feature but currently they don't...

Re: Thursday Fishing
They are both great kayaks and I don't think you can go wrong with either one of them. Both are very stable, have plenty of storage space and provide a dry ride. I think they both track very well and don't think I could say one does any better than the other. The native has the better seat but the c...

Re: Deep Water Re-Entry
I took my Commander out two weeks ago in conditions that in retrospect, I should not have. Winds had picked up more than forecast, creating a considerable chop in the bay. The kayak did take on quite a bit of water but I was never really concerned about flooding it. With that said, if I had taken a ...

First birds falling from the sky, then fish washing up everywhere, now fish falling from the sky. OK, now I'm scared!

Deep Water Re-Entry
After reading Heywoods post about the kayak rescue and having my first uncomfortable experience in a kayak, I realize how unprepared I have been all these years. I wonder if it's just me or most of us. Has everyone tried/practiced a water re-entry? What about people with Natives & Commanders? Ca...

Re: New guy needs some help!
I'm new to the forum as well, but welcome. If your planning to fish Bay Pines, I'm guessing your in the St. Pete/Pinellas County area. Fort Desoto is a nice, productive and safe place to kayak fish in this area. Weedon Island is also a good area to try. If you need some more info, feel free to messa...

Re: Who's going out in 2011?
Went Saturday to Tarpon Key. Saw a few tailing reds and some cruisers but also skunked. Bad day to cross open water in the commander, wind and waves were crazy on the way back to the Fort. Hoping to get out again this weekend but looks like it's going to be pretty windy.
