If you take care of them
Cleaning the 6000 Ambassadeurs which were purchased over the years. The first dates to 1969 and is as functional as it always was after 43 years of use. It was used for blackfish, dolphin, spainish macks, trout, reds, flounder, striped bass, largemouth bass, etc over the years and never let us down....

Re: Cool dolphin rescue
Sure brings up the question of why a pod would swim into shallow water like that. I have seen them chase fish into shallow water and feed on them, but the dolphin did not stay beached.

The water conditions up here differ from what you are used to. We have miles and miles of salt marsh, soft mud, and swift currents. The water is seldom very clear due to the mud and swift water. It is the nursery of the Atlantic and is rich in fish. We enjoy the Gulf coast and normally do not kayak ...

Re: Dolphin feeding on redfish
I have seen dolphin herd a school of reds against the beach and feed on them three times, once in St. Pete and twice up here. They work together well.

Cannot speak for far sighted folks, but with multi-focal lenses for near sighted people, I find poloroid lenses from my optical man are very good. Get them mounted in Z87 frames with scratch protection and they will be very satisfactory. No, you will not make Gentleman's Quarterly with them, but you...

Re: Ft. Desoto parking fees...
You folks are blessed with a jewel of nature, and hopefully the ones in charge down there will do everything possible to keep it as it is. When they decided to outsource vendors awhile back, a lot of us dissagreed with them. Your county commisioner who took time to reply to me seemed to agree that p...

Re: Ft. Desoto parking fees...
The last visit to the park, we observed very few county employees, and if it were not for volunteers, the park would be in dismal condition. It is understandable that fees are required to support it in this economy. We have been camping there since the late 60's and it is one of the finest sites in ...

Broke the ball joint in my shoulder and was expected to lose use of the arm. A good doctor prescribed exerises which hurt like the devil, but I now have almost complete use of the arm thankfully. Todd, follow the instructions your doctor gives you to the letter. Rehab is probably the most important ...

Re: Good News....
Norm, I was hesitant to post the above, as I sure don't want to be a wet blanket when we have so much to be thankful for regarding Bill. I only know him from his posts over the years, and prayers for him have been made over time for just what we hear now. I am as charged up to hear of his getting a ...

I have not read this thread before, so I am late to the party as usual. I am extremely thankful to hear Bill is on the road to a recovery after suffering for such a long time. There will be prayers going up tonight for both him and the donars family. A heart felt note from Bill may be good, but it i...

Re: THE ELECTRIC FISHERMAN
Several boat up here got caught in a bad storm several years ago, so they landed at the base of a bluff for protection. Lightning hit them and killed a lady even though they were far below the top of the bluff. It does strange things. I had never thought to get under power lines in a pinch, but what...

Re: New fee for Ft Desoto and Howard Park
We just returned from 2 weeks camping at Ft. D. When they laid off so many people, we thought the park was ruined. They now have campground volunteers (hosts), and they do an exceptional job of keeping the campground up. We were very pleasently surprised with the state of maintainance evident there....

Norm, guess breaking knee caps is out of style with these guys. One caution, stay away from private aircraft though.
Sorry to hear of your problem.

Daiwa Coastal - Disgusting
We thouroughly clean and lubricate our reels often. The two Coastals we have exibit a poor design problem which has made them both unusable without replacement parts. One sideplate is completely ruined due to the remains of the bearing being frozen inside the plate. If you have one, check ball beari...

Re: Gold Spoon with A Grub
Back in the fifties, we fished fresh water when we first started using spinning gear. The best bass bait we used was a spoon attached to a 4 to 5" black pork rind trailler. We never used a spoon alone. We would put a treble hook on the spoon with one hook riding in the vertical position. We wou...

Re: Let the sumbitch go!
Let us get this straight. If he landed the shark he could tell the world how tough he was. If the shark got him, there would be pictorial proof so the widow could receive her insurance without having to wait for long.
