Wilderness Systems Pungo
The Pungo is a versatile sit-inside kayak that can be rigged in many ways.
I’m a profound tackle junkie so I designed mine around my fishing habits and placed everything within easy reach and out of the way for a clutter free cockpit and deck area. One of the first things I did was add shock cord to the rear deck over the hatch to secure larger items to the deck that would not fit bellow during camping excursions.
The bungee hooks at both sides in the middle, overlapping items placed within. The fore deck receive a similar treatment of shock cord to secure smaller items. A Suntto compass is lashed to the deck with both bungee cords running through the factory stand-off mounted on the deck underneath.
On the right fore deck. I installed a RAM Mount that can be adjusted to any position and remains out of the way of the paddle stroke. Like to carry a lot of rods? No problem. I have fashioned a four place rod holder out of PVC that is secured to the rear deck with shock cord, hooks and strap eyes. ![]() My Explores pliers, Multi-tool and leader material are attached to the holder with zip ties for easy access. The paddle holder pictured is nothing more than a length of bungee, strap eyes and a nylon hook |
